Aikido has a standard Kyu-Dan grading system (starts at 5th Kyu for adults and 10th Kyu for children ages from 8-14). Aikido Doyukai Hong Kong follows the Aikikai Grading System as set out by Hombu Dojo, Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

At Aikido Doyukai Hong Kong, although not required, practitioners are encouraged to demonstrate their progress.  Examination offers an unique opportunity to show your techniques. Remember, there is no need to rush.

Grading exams are held every six months (May and November). Aikido Doyukai Hong Kong will hold tests for Kyu grades. Members will have the opportunity to grade in Japan, and receive Dan grade and Hombu Dojo certification from Endo Sensei directly. Dan grade exam can also take place in Hong Kong with visiting Shihan.

Aikido Doyukai follows the traditional Aikikai ranking system (white and black). All Kyu grade practitions wear white belts, while Dan grades wear black belts. It is said the dirtier and darker the belt, the higher the grade. By the time the practioners have reached the level for Dan grade, their belt would have been black, thus this is where the modern term "black belt" comes from.

Keep up the good work! We will be there with you along the way.
